Ancient Eygptian Art — A study of Egyptian Art including the cartouche, scarab and hieroglyphic alphabet. The project combines all 3 into a cartouche style self standing amulet with the student's own hieroglyph and scarab beetle with some creativity with cardboard, clay and paint. Included is the history on each and enlarged images for print or digital display. A blank cartouche and beetle worksheet are included along with a page of example Egyptian color and pattern. This lesson works well in an ancient art unit. We used for grades 3 through middle school but could be adapted younger and to older students as well.
