Choose to get your students to peer mark or self-assess their artwork.  This simple sheet asks questions that help your students to evaluate their own work and then also evaluate another student's work. 
 
I let my students know they will self-critique their own piece and then choose one other to assess on the right. This gets students starting to think and assess art which then can lead to open critiques and group discussions.
