Another art around the world project - Koalas. The students loved getting a little messy with chalk while drawing these adorable cuddly koalas sittting in a eculyptus tree.

I generally hate chalk pastel but only because it’s so messy. But yet, it’s so fun and such a necessity in creative processes. I always start out with chalk techniques — helps students learn the processes, gets them practicing and better before going to the final project and lets students explore. I use this sheet:
We then looked at some facts about koalas. Like did you know that they can eat up to one kilogram (2lbs) of eucalyptus leaves in a day! Then we get into observing and drawing our koalas. Students have fun just messing around with chalk and the results are always so different, amazing and charming!
